The Climate Solutions Accelerator is a nonprofit dedicated to climate mobilization in the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. They are seeking a Director of Development & Resource Mobilization to lead fundraising strategies and build relationships to enhance revenue growth and organizational sustainability.

Responsibilities

Implement and continuously refine the Accelerator’s fundraising strategy, ensuring alignment with organizational values, strategic priorities, the Genesee-FLX Climate Action Strategy, programmatic goals, and long-term growth plans
Serve as a thought partner to organizational leadership on revenue strategy, organizational sustainability, and emerging fundraising trends
Collaborate with the Executive Director, Senior Director of Operations, and Grants Manager to develop, manage, and monitor a cohesive, diversified revenue strategy, including fundraising projections and budgets, and to track progress toward annual and long-term revenue goals
Lead and manage the development of high-quality, values-aligned relationships with individual donors and corporate partners that result in major gifts (generally $5,000+), including managing a personal portfolio of top prospects and donors, and coaching staff and board members on their fundraising roles
Design and oversee intentional donor engagement and stewardship strategies, including portfolio management, clear next steps, and tracking donor relationships over time
Lead and manage outreach, cultivation, and solicitation of sponsorships for the Accelerator’s annual Climate Solutions Summit
Expand and diversify the prospect pool across individual donors, local businesses, and corporate partners, and oversee strategies to acquire, retain, and grow supporters, including a strong recurring giving program
Plan and execute annual giving campaigns in close collaboration with the Communications & Events Manager and organizational leadership
Explore, design, and oversee creative, mission-aligned fundraising initiatives and special events that build community, joy, and donor engagement, including the potential for a flagship, dance party–themed fundraiser
Collaborate with communications and program staff to ensure donors receive timely, compelling, and accurate information about the Accelerator’s work and impact through digital and print communications
Organize and support donor cultivation and stewardship efforts, including supporter engagement and appreciation events
Oversee gift processing and donor acknowledgement workflows, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strong stewardship practices
Effectively utilize, maintain, and continuously improve donor data systems (Little Green Light), including database policies, procedures, and data integrity practices
Co-facilitate and partner with the board Development Committee to engage, train, and support board members in fundraising efforts and in achieving annual fundraising goals
Foster a collaborative, team-oriented approach to fundraising across the organization, including goal-setting, tracking progress, and reporting outcomes
Work with the board and staff to incorporate Community-Centric Fundraising principles into the Accelerator’s fundraising efforts, recognizing that this work is ongoing and evolving
Manage and strengthen equitable policies, systems, and processes needed to ensure the effectiveness, quality, and integrity of the fundraising program

Required

Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising, including major gift and relationship-based fundraising
Confidence in making direct, values-aligned asks for financial support
Genuine commitment to climate justice, equity, and community-led solutions
Strong communicator and relationship builder, able to engage effectively and respectfully with donors, board members, staff, and community partners
Skilled at navigating complex or challenging conversations with diplomacy, sound judgment, and curiosity
Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a fast-evolving organization
Organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to balance strategic thinking and hands-on execution while managing competing priorities
Comfort with donor databases and digital tools
Willingness to learn, adapt, and improve systems over time
Excellent budget awareness
Strong prioritization skills
Collaborative leadership style
Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with care
Reliable transportation and the ability to travel throughout the nine-county region
