Responsibilities

Own the enterprise data governance program, including policies, standards, naming conventions (ontology), stewardship model, and decision rights
Lead governance councils that bring together Finance, Accounting, FP&A, HR, Procurement, AP, Treasury, Operations, and IT
Define and enforce enterprise-wide data ownership and stewardship roles, ensuring clarity of responsibility
Serve as the enterprise authority on the structure and definition of critical data elements used across financial and operational reporting
Own all enterprise master data domains including chart of accounts, legal/entity structure, cost centers, vendors, customers, and employee master
Partner with Accounting, Finance Systems, HRIS, Procurement, and ERP teams to design and maintain proper hierarchy structures and dimensional integrity
Ensure that master data decisions consistently support downstream OneStream, Power BI, Treasury, and operational reporting
Oversee master data change control processes, including approvals, impact assessments, and governance checkpoints
Establish and own data quality rules, validation logic, quality KPIs, and monitoring frameworks across all master data domains
Build enterprise dashboards that track completeness, accuracy, timeliness, and structural integrity of master data
Lead root cause analysis of recurring data issues and partner with Accounting, HR, AP, Procurement, Treasury, and IT to prevent recurrence
Ensure all integrations (e.g., Workday → D365 → OneStream → Power BI) have adequate data controls, validations, error handling, and reconciliation processes
Partner closely with the VP of Enterprise Data Strategy & Architecture to ensure governance decisions align with enterprise architecture and the canonical data model
Collaborate with ERP, HRIS, Procurement, AP, Finance Systems, FP&A, and Treasury teams to ensure data governance supports accurate and reliable downstream processes
Act as the escalation point for structural data issues impacting accounting close, FP&A cycles, automation, reporting, and compliance
Lead and mentor a small enterprise data governance team responsible for standards, quality, and domain expertise
Provide oversight and alignment with key data stewards, such as Vendor Data Management (VDM) through a dotted-line relationship, ensuring vendor master conforms to enterprise standards
Coordinate with distributed data stewards embedded in AP, Procurement, HR, Treasury, and Operations
Transform legacy, inconsistent, or fragmented master data into a standardized, governed, scalable enterprise model
Introduce automation, workflow, and AI-driven quality detection to improve governance efficiency and integrity
Support simplification of financial structures, reduction of unnecessary mappings, and elimination of duplicative hierarchies
Enable self-service analytics by ensuring semantic layers sit on top of clean, well-defined master data

Required

15–20+ years of experience in Data Governance, Finance Systems, Controllership, Master Data Management, or related fields
Deep understanding of financial structures (COA, entities, cost centers), operational data, and how master data flows across ERP, HRIS, AP, Procurement, Treasury, and FP&A systems
Experience building and leading enterprise governance programs, including policy formation, stewardship models, and governance councils
Strong technical and analytical skills including SQL, data profiling, data validation, lineage, and metadata concepts
Hands-on familiarity with systems such as D365, Workday, OneStream, Coupa, Concur, Kyriba, and Power BI
Proven success remediating structural data issues and implementing durable governance solutions
Ability to communicate complex data topics to executive and functional audiences; strong influence and facilitation skills

Preferred

Experience working in environments undergoing major ERP/Finance transformation is strongly preferred
