Responsibilities
Lead mechanical engineering projects from conceptual design through prototyping, validation, and production release
Serve as the primary technical and project point of contact for clients, ensuring alignment with scope, schedule, budget, and performance expectations
Develop, manage, and track project plans, schedules, milestones, and deliverables
Coordinate and direct cross-functional teams including mechanical engineers, industrial designers, manufacturing partners, and suppliers
Assign engineering tasks, provide technical guidance, and mentor junior and mid-level engineers
Review and approve engineering designs, drawings, and documentation to ensure quality and manufacturability
Oversee prototype builds and pilot production, driving timely execution and issue resolution
Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies proactively
Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, documentation, and production methods
Support production teams by introducing efficient manufacturing and assembly methods
Represent the company at internal and external product development meetings and design reviews
Ensure projects comply with applicable quality systems, regulatory requirements, and company standards
Qualification
Required
Minimum Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience in product development, including delivery of concepts through production
Minimum 5+ years of experience leading engineering projects and/or managing engineers
Strong background in product development with emphasis on plastics, sheet metal, CNC equipment, tooling, and machining processes
Proven ability to analyze and solve complex mechanical and electro-mechanical problems
Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, budgets, resources, and risks
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including client communication and cross-functional leadership
Advanced proficiency with SolidWorks and CAD tools
Knowledge of ISO 9001, FDA, and other regulatory requirements is desirable
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlines
