Montgomery County Public Schools is seeking a temporary Instructional Specialist for the Summit Hall Judy Center Early Learning Hub. This role involves developing and managing early childhood programs in collaboration with community partners to ensure comprehensive services for children ages birth through 5.

Education

Responsibilities

Developing, writing, implementing, and monitoring the annual Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) Judy Center grant
Managing the Judy Center early childhood partnership program
Coordinating with community partners to ensure delivery of comprehensive early childhood services for children, ages birth through 5
Developing and preparing state mid-year progress report, annual continuation grant, end-of-year report, and coordinating with external evaluator on final annual MSDE report
Developing, monitoring, and managing program budget, analyzing school readiness data for program planning, and facilitating an approximately 15-member steering committee of community partners
Assisting with hiring of employees; providing input in the evaluation of staff; and developing, coordinating, and implementing professional development and educational programs for, and with, early childhood staff, teachers, parents, and external early childhood stakeholders
Coordinating efforts with community partners to provide targeted school readiness programming based on data, leading the charge, and providing technical support for MSDE early childhood accreditation required for Judy Center schools and community child care partners

Required

Master's degree/MEQ from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, early childhood special education, or a closely related field
Meets Maryland state certification or licensure requirements for a standard professional certificate in early childhood education, special education, or a closely related field
Thorough knowledge of early childhood programs and services for children ages birth through 5
Knowledge of early childhood pedagogy and current research and trends in early childhood education with special emphasis on developmentally appropriate, culturally competent curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment
Thorough knowledge of 12 MSDE Judy Center program state components per Judith P. Hoyer legislation
Ability to work effectively with administrators, principals, teachers, childcare community, and public and private agencies in implementing developmentally appropriate programs in full alignment with MCPS curriculum, instructional practices, and assessment
Ability to plan and collaborate with other MCPS offices and nonprofit and governmental agencies to design and execute professional development opportunities
Excellent written and oral communications
Exceptional human relations skills
Data analysis, program budget development, management, and monitoring
Knowledge and application of the six performance standards that have been established for the MCPS Teacher Professional Growth System

Preferred

Experience as an instructional specialist, central office employee, or teacher leader
Minimum of three years successful experience on a preschool, kindergarten, and/or primary level
Experience working with parents and conducting training for a variety of audiences
Course work in staff development, supervision, curriculum development, and instruction
