Responsibilities

Oversee all general ledger activity and ensure timely monthly, quarterly, and annual closes
Prepare and review financial statements, including P&L, balance sheet, A/P, A/R, and cash flow
Ensure proper accounting treatment for small business loan originations, repayments, fees, defaults, and post-default recoveries
Maintain strong controls over cash receipts, reconciliations, and cash flow reporting
Manage the company’s primary credit facility, including reporting and compliance with covenants
Collaborate with external auditors to complete annual audited statements
Define and own core financial KPIs, translating data into actionable insights for executive leadership
Define KPIs, monitor performance against those KPIs, and share insights/recommendations accordingly
Establish clear processes, controls, documentation, and performance expectations
Oversee bank relationships, reconciliations, and treasury-related processes
Ensure accurate and timely management of payroll
Manage cash forecasting and liquidity planning
Manage interest payments to high-net-worth individuals who hold Fintegra promissory notes
Oversee company benefits and insurance
Oversee the accounting for loan disbursements, customer repayments, delinquent accounts, charge-offs, and recoveries
Work closely with in-house legal counsel and our collections team to ensure accurate financial tracking and reporting of collections activity
Support management reporting related to portfolio performance and unit economics
Streamline workflows, enhance efficiency, and improve data accuracy
Manage a team of offshore accountants in India responsible for bookkeeping, preparation of financial reports, and reconciliations. Validate the accuracy and completeness of their work products
Oversee an offshore bookkeeper in the Philippines tasked with posting transactions and daily reporting
Supervise a part-time onshore administrator responsible for managing accounts payable
Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Design, maintain, and enhance internal controls regarding financial reporting and cash management
Maintain strict observance of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), tax law, and all applicable regulatory, licensing, and reporting obligations
Coordinate with external auditors, accountants, tax advisors, and insurance agencies
Drive process improvements and system enhancements to enable growth and scalability
Contribute to the design of new accounting functionality in the company’s proprietary software platform
Serve as an insightful and trusted thought partner to senior leadership and the company’s Board
Support the creation of presentations for investors and the Board of Directors
Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions
Play a pivotal role with budgeting, forecasting, and long-range planning

Required

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or a related field. CPA or CMA would be a plus
5-10+ years of progressive accounting experience, including senior-level responsibilities and interactions
Experience working in fintech, lending, financial services, or alternative credit is highly desirable
Strong understanding of cash-intensive businesses and transaction-based accounting
Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
Clear and concise communicator with the ability to engage effectively with non-finance stakeholders
Advanced Excel skills and experience with modern, cloud-based accounting systems preferred
