Director of Development and Marketing
Compass for Kids, Inc. is a not-for-profit organization focused on providing academic and social-emotional support to underserved children and families. The Director of Development and Marketing is responsible for overseeing the Development and Marketing functions, including managing fundraising efforts and marketing strategies while building relationships with stakeholders.
Responsibilities
Supervise Senior Donor Relations Manager, Marketing & Communications Manager
Performance Reviews, Team Meetings, Check - ins, Coaching, and Staff Accountability
Oversee all Development functions of the organization, including strategy
Lead liaison between relevant staff and Board of Directors
Responsible for planning, implementation, execution, and monitoring all aspects of activities such as Back to School Brunch, Stakeholder Event, Match Campaign, etc
Build relationships with a portfolio of current and prospective individual as well as corporate donors/sponsors
Design and implement stewardship plans
Donor appreciation
Host stakeholder tours/events
Research to find new grants
Write and submit grants
Prepare for and attend grant interviews
Write and submit grant reports
Department budget preparation and monthly monitoring
Track fundraising results
Monthly reporting
Expert on Donor Database and all related processes (e.g. annual tax letters, thank you notes, donor reports, etc.)
Oversee entire Department, including strategy
Update and implement annual Marketing and Communications plan
Graphic Design
Design some marketing materials
Oversee the design, content gathering, and execution of quarterly newsletter, donor communications, and Annual Report
Make presentations to civic groups and churches, give radio and TV interviews
Join community networking groups
Adhere to goals outlined in strategic plan
Adhere to organizational policies and procedures
Other duties as assigned
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
At least three years of Development/Fundraising and/or Marketing experience
Not-for-profit experience
Supervisory experience
Valid driver's license, dependable transportation, and car insurance
Ability to pass a background check
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including grant-writing skills
Excellent public speaking and story-telling skills
Excellent relationship-building skills
Strong Computer and Technology skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, Google Calendar, Google Drive and Excel spreadsheets, Mailchimp, donor database), Phone, Copier/Scanner/Printer
Excellent organizational skills, including backwards planning and project management
Meticulous attention to detail; conscientiousness; quick learner
Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines
Ability to handle stress in a positive manner
Work independently with minimal direction; a self-starter
Flexible team player
Ability to peacefully resolve conflict
Preferred
Graduate degree or coursework in Fundraising or Marketing
