Biomedical Equipment Technician - Bioengineering Services
The University of Iowa Health Care Bioengineering Services is seeking a Biomedical Equipment Technician Trainee to join their team. In this role, you will test, calibrate, repair, and maintain electronic and electro-mechanical equipment used in a medical environment under supervision.
Research
Responsibilities
Tests the performance and operating characteristics of electro mechanical equipment of limited complexity to ensure compliance with established performance and safety standards
Documents the results of equipment safety/performance tests
Diagnoses problems and performs corrective maintenance and/or calibration as required on electro-mechanical equipment of limited complexity
Documents actions required to correct equipment malfunctions
Order parts and supplies as required in the maintenance of electro-mechanical equipment
Attends workshops, conferences and specialized training courses to keep abreast of the field
Reads, studies, or reviews appropriate publications related to the field
Attends and successfully completes required training courses such as: Infection Control, Fire Safety Training, Compliances – Usually the first day or so
Qualification
Required
A.S. degree in Biomedical or Electronics technology
Successful completion of the Biomedical Equipment Technician Trainee Program
One year of experience troubleshooting, repairing, and testing electronic or electromechanical equipment in a hospital setting
