Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer
SpaceX is a company focused on developing technologies for human life on Mars. They are seeking a Sr. Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to provide technical expertise and assist in implementing environmental, health, and safety programs at the Rocket Development & Test Site.

Responsibilities
Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA and NIOSH and other applicable regulatory agencies
Collaborate with department leadership to complete job hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies and procedures
Monitor employee exposure to physical and chemical hazards
Understand and implement machine guarding where needed
Develop recommendations for remedial actions when safety policies are not met by employees
Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards and ensure compliance with all applicable regulations
Complete and maintain documented safety observations from regular hazard identification audits
Investigate industrial accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to determine root causes, corrective actions and preventive measures
Develop, implement and maintain safety contingency plans (fires, spills, etc.)
Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations established by the EPA, CERCLA, RCRA, DOT, TRRC, NEPA and other applicable regulatory agencies
Review and interpret new and proposed environmental laws and regulations, and provide guidance to management
Provide expert level guidance to engineering customers on safety design
Perform environmental compliance and due diligence audits to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies
Conduct and monitor the NPDES and other discharge permits/plans
Maintain recordkeeping and compliance requirements established for permitted sources defined by the local TCEQ
Responsible for hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, including DOT and RCRA
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree
5+ years of experience in the design, development and operational oversight of environmental, health and safety disciplines or a relevant engineering field
Develop and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations and/or guidelines established by OSHA, NFPA and NIOSH and other applicable regulatory agencies

This is not a remote or hybrid position and will require relocation if not already local to the McGregor, Texas area
Position occasionally requires the ability to work extended hours and weekends when needed
To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in engineering with an emphasis in occupational health and safety and/or environmental engineering
Experience in both environmental and safety fields
Familiarity with structural design, safety systems, and construction safety
Experience with implementing and maintaining compliance with storm water regulations
Strong knowledge and experience in interpreting, applying and documenting federal, state and local safety and environmental regulations
Strong organizational and communication skills
Familiarity and implementation of machine guarding and industrial hygiene programs
Experience with emergency response communication and incident management in incidents involving hazardous and non-hazardous material releases to air, soil, and water
Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook)
