Responsibilities
Evaluates technical quality of audio systems
Mitigates sound level issues with outdoor music venues
Evaluates and recommends layouts, flowcharts, and/or schematics of audio equipment
Integrates audio programming with live web casting and audio on demand equipment and needs
Provides expert advice to the permitting office
Creates, revises, and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) related to sound and sound production equipment for use by City staff
Regulates sound inputs and feeds and/or coordinates audio feeds with live broadcasts and recordings
Determines audio production equipment needs and makes recommendation for purchases
May lead and train others
Qualification
Required
Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in sound Engineering, and Telecommunications or in a field related to the job plus four (4) years of related experience
Experience may substitute for education up to the maximum of four (4) years
Valid Texas Class C Drivers License
Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities, and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed
Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
Knowledge of transmission, broadcasting, switching, control, and operation of telecommunications systems
Knowledge of media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods
Knowledge of Web media formats and related applications
Knowledge of applicable processes, techniques, and methods
Knowledge of city practice, policy, and procedures
Knowledge of safety practices and procedures
Skill in oral and written communication
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing
Skill in using computers and related software applications
Skill in data analysis and problem solving
Skill in planning and organizing
Ability to control operations of equipment or systems
Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems
Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities
Ability to train others
Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
Ability to quickly and repeatedly adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions
