Director of Resource Development

Sherwood Forest is an independent, year-round, not-for-profit, youth development agency in the St. Louis region. The Director of Resource Development leads and oversees a comprehensive fundraising program that supports the organization's mission and long-term sustainability, managing a team and collaborating with various stakeholders to achieve revenue goals.

Non-profit Organization Management

Responsibilities

Develop and implement strategic, long-range, and annual development plans to meet revenue goals for programs, operations, facilities, capital, and endowment funds and ensure goals are met
Collaborate with Program and Facilities teams to identify funding priorities and opportunities
Qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of major gift donors (individual, corporate and foundation) and event sponsors
Support the Executive Director in managing their major donor portfolio
Oversee stewardship activities, donor recognition, and pledge fulfillment
Oversee marketing and communication activities
Develop and grow a comprehensive planned giving program
Provide leadership and oversight of grants strategy including tax credit projects, corporate and foundation donors and United Way
Recruit, hire, train, develop, and supervise Resource Development staff; oversee consultants and contract staff
Partner with the Executive Director to support an active and engaged Board of Directors; foster a culture of philanthropy with both staff and board and increase board participation in fundraising efforts by providing fundraising training and guidance to board members as needed
Serve as primary staff liaison to the Resource Development and Board Development Committees

Required

Bachelor's degree required
Minimum of 5–7 years of progressive development experience
Demonstrated success leading a comprehensive fundraising program
Exceptional relationship-building and interpersonal skills; ability to build and maintain positive constituent and colleague relationships through constructive communication skills and professionalism
Strong financial and analytical acumen
Strategic thinker with the ability to design and implement effective systems and processes
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
Results-oriented and able to collaborate effectively across all levels of the organization
Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds

Preferred

Master's degree and/or CFRE preferred
Prior organizational leadership and staff management experience strongly preferred
