Responsibilities

Own all OSP engineering standards, FTTH design criteria, and network architecture principles
Personally contribute to complex aerial and underground fiber designs and constructability reviews
Serve as the senior technical authority and final approver of all engineering design packages
Provide expert guidance on fiber routing, FDH placement, backbone design, and construction methodologies
Maintain high engineering standards and design integrity across all projects
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of senior and junior OSP engineers
Foster a high-performance, high-accountability culture built on ownership, clarity, and feedback
Coach team members through technical challenges and professional growth
Promote collaboration and alignment across the engineering organization
Own engineering schedules and ensure alignment with construction, permitting, and business priorities
Monitor workloads and adjust resources quickly to meet shifting demands
Proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks, risks, and inefficiencies
Drive outcomes through practical, resourceful problem-solving
Manage and hold third-party engineering firms and vendors accountable for quality and delivery
Establish clear expectations, standards, and deliverables
Provide direct, professional feedback to internal and external partners
Build strong working relationships while ensuring performance and accuracy
Partner with construction, permitting, operations, and business teams to align engineering with field realities
Represent engineering in executive-level planning, reporting, and decision-making
Communicate clearly and effectively in meetings, reviews, and stakeholder discussions
Drive improvements in engineering efficiency, cost per home passed, and overall design quality
Reduce rework, eliminate waste, and simplify engineering processes
Champion scalable, repeatable design standards that support growth
Maintain a customer-first mindset, recognizing the impact of engineering on customer experience

Required

8+ years of experience in OSP or FTTH engineering with strong hands-on design expertise
Proven experience leading and developing engineering teams or technical organizations
Deep knowledge of fiber construction practices, OSP materials, and FTTH architectures
Experience conducting design reviews, constructability assessments, and field issue resolution
Demonstrated ability to lead with ownership, urgency, and high standards

Preferred

Experience managing external engineering vendors or consultants
Background working in a small, high-growth, or startup environment
Familiarity with GIS tools (ArcGIS or similar platforms)
Experience supporting permitting processes and utility coordination
