Responsibilities
Design, develop, and maintain database schemas, tables, views, indexes, and other database objects
Ensure databases are optimized for performance, security, and reliability
Develop complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions to meet specific business requirements
Optimize SQL queries to improve performance and reduce response times
Ensure data integrity and consistency across various systems and databases
Perform data migrations and transformations as needed
Monitor database performance, identify potential issues, and implement performance tuning measures
Conduct regular database maintenance tasks such as indexing, backups, and restorations
Work closely with software developers, data analysts, and other stakeholders to understand their data needs and provide necessary support
Assist in the development and implementation of data governance policies and best practices
Maintain comprehensive documentation for database design, development processes, and operational procedures
Generate and present reports on database status, performance, and issues resolved
Ensure databases comply with relevant security standards and regulations, including data encryption and access controls
Support audits and compliance checks as required

Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance
This position is remote but may require occasional onsite meetings in McLean, VA
You can be based out of following states: AZ, DC, FL, GA, OH, ME, MD, SC, TX, UT, VA, NC, OK, WV
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
At least 7 years of experience in Oracle-focused database engineering or a related role
Proficiency in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL, including stored procedures, functions, and packages, and experience with Oracle RDS
Strong understanding of database design principles, normalization, and data modeling, including schema and metadata management
Experience with performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries, including indexing strategies, execution plans, partitioning, and materialized views
Knowledge of ETL/ELT data transformations and data validation and reconciliation frameworks
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including data quality profiling and discrepancy analysis
Attention to detail and commitment to quality
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Preferred
Experience in a government contracting environment
Familiarity with cloud-based database solutions and tools
Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP), Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate, or similar
