8+ years expCirrusLabs is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Engineer (IBM AS400) for a 6-month contract-to-hire opportunity with one of our enterprise clients. This role is critical to maintaining, enhancing, and modernizing core business applications running on the IBM i (AS400) platform.

Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, debug, and maintain applications on the IBM AS400 (IBM i) platform using RPG (RPGLE/Free) and CL
Support and enhance mission-critical enterprise applications
Collaborate with business users, analysts, and technical teams to gather requirements and deliver solutions
Perform application integrations with other enterprise systems
Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues with a strong focus on stability and performance
Participate in application testing, deployments, and production rollouts
Maintain technical documentation and follow development best practices
Contribute to system enhancements and long-term platform improvements
Qualification
Required
8+ years of hands-on experience with IBM AS400 / IBM i development
Strong expertise in RPG, RPGLE, Free RPG, and CL programming
Experience supporting large-scale, enterprise production systems
Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Excellent communication skills and ability to work directly with business stakeholders
Ability and willingness to work onsite 5 days per week in Atlanta, GA
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience
Experience with enterprise ERP or financial systems (e.g., Lawson, Infinium, or similar)
Exposure to modern development practices or web-based integrations
Background in logistics, transportation, supply chain, or other high-transaction environments
