Responsibilities

Lead fundamental credit research for a dedicated municipal revenue-bond coverage universe, maintaining forward-looking views, rating assumptions, and issuer-specific risk assessments

Monitor credit, operating, and capital trends across key municipal sectors; synthesize financial, legal, economic, demographic, and ESG-related inputs into actionable conclusions

Build and maintain robust financial models, scenario analyses, and sector frameworks to evaluate issuer performance and credit trajectories

Produce clear, insightful written research, investment recommendations, and presentations for use in internal discussions and meetings

Engage directly with issuers, underwriters, municipal advisors, and other market participants to deepen understanding and inform analysis

Collaborate across the broader Fixed Income platform to share insights, ensure consistency of credit philosophy, and support multi-sector strategies

Leverage advanced quantitative tools, AI-enabled analytics, and firmwide data resources to enhance research depth and efficiency

Required

5–15 years of experience researching municipal bonds—ideally at a buy-side asset manager, rating agency, or similar platform

Demonstrated expertise in revenue-backed municipal sectors and familiarity with legal security structures, covenants, flow-of-funds, and issuer financials

Strong financial modeling, analytical, and valuation skills; proficiency with Excel and/or analytical programming tools a plus

Excellent written and verbal communication, including the ability to articulate concise, high-conviction credit opinions under time pressure

Bachelor's degree required

Preferred

Advanced degree, CFA, or CFA candidacy preferred
