Utility Billing & Accounts Specialist - Temporary (Part-time 28 hrs/wk)

Responsibilities
Receive, review, and process monthly utility invoices (electricity, natural gas, water, sewer, heating, chilled water, waste, etc.).…
Verify invoice accuracy, resolve discrepancies, and ensure alignment with contract terms, rate structures, and meter data
Prepare utility payment requests and work with Accounts Payable to ensure timely vendor payments
Track billing cycles and proactively follow up with vendors regarding late or missing invoices
Compare utility invoices to metering data, usage trends, and historical costs to identify abnormalities
Collaborate with Energy Management staff to validate consumption data and investigate anomalies
Maintain utility cost and consumption databases/systems, ensuring data quality and completeness
Qualification
Required
A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Energy Management, or a related field; or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience in billing, accounts payable, finance, utility/energy data management, or equivalent experience
Strong analytical and numerical skills with attention to detail
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and financial/accounting systems
Ability to manage deadlines, multitask, and work independently with minimal supervision
Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints must hold and be worthy to hold a current temple recommend
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Data Analytics, or a related field
Experience with utility billing, energy management systems, or university/large-campus operations
Familiarity with utility rate structures and basic energy terminology
Experience working in a higher-education or public-sector environment
