The role involves managing day-to-day operations of a molecular biology research laboratory, including inventory management, supervising junior lab members, and conducting experiments.

Responsibilities

The candidate will primarily be responsible for the management of day-to-day operations of a molecular biology research laboratory

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:: inventory management and ordering supplies, maintenance and organization of the laboratory mouse colony (breeding strategies, genotyping, establishment of experimental cohorts, etc.), carrying out molecular biology experiment, cell culture maintenance, supervising junior laboratory members, including undergraduates assistants, implementing, and training others in laboratory safety and regulatory compliance, and the collection and organization of data

Occasional off-hours (night/weekend) work may be required

The individual will be working within a diverse academic setting, and superior written and verbal communication skills are essential

The candidate must implement independent critical thinking to resolve unexpected problems as they arise to ensure the efficient operation of the research group

They are also expected to foster and maintain effective working relationships with all members of the research enterprise

Required

Prior experience working with mouse models is essential for this position

Individuals with prior laboratory experience in cellular and/or molecular biology will be given higher priority

Prior experience in training and supervising others is also desired

Must be a self-motivated, team-oriented individual with a strong work ethic and excellent communication and organizational skills

Associate's Degree and 0-1 years' experience required for Research Lab Tech Associate

Bachelor's Degree and 1-3 years' experience required for Research Lab Tech Intermediate

Master's Degree in Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Physiology and 3-5 years' experience required for Research Lab Tech Senior

Preferred

A two-year minimum commitment is strongly preferred

Previous experience in a laboratory environment is desired but not required

Bachelor's Degree in Cell Biology/Biochemistry/Physiology or related field preferred for Associate and Intermediate Level
