Hyperbaric Technician / Technologist
Singing River Health System is looking for a Hyperbaric Technician / Technologist to perform hyperbaric oxygen therapy under the direction of a physician. The role involves operating and monitoring the hyperbaric chamber, maintaining patient records, and ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of the chamber’s oxygen system.

Responsibilities
Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy on approved patients
Operates and monitors the hyperbaric chamber and other hyperbaric support systems
Performs necessary maintenance to systems daily
Ensures the cleanliness and maintenance of the chamber’s oxygen system
Maintains patient records, records of chamber use – including time and pressure information for each patient – and chamber maintenance records
Qualification
Required
Must have appropriate educational diploma/degree/license
Emergency Medical Technician (EMT): Must be a High School graduate or equivalent
Certified or Registered Respiratory Therapist: Must be a graduate from an accredited, state approved, Respiratory Therapy Program
Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN): Must be a graduate of an accredited school of licensed practical nursing
If clinical practitioner, must hold current applicable MS license/certification(s)
Must complete and maintain current BCLS certification upon hire and/or transfer
Respiratory Therapists must complete ACLS certification by the end of position orientation; must maintain current ACLS certification
The Certified Technologist must be certified through the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) as a Certified Hyperbaric Technologist
Must have de-escalation training completed by the end of position orientation (90 days); must have appropriate level of de-escalation training
Must possess keen mental faculties in the management of information
Must possess emotional stability conducive to dealing with high stress levels associated with care of acute patient/family, rapidly changing patient conditions, emotional demands of patients and families, and demands of maintaining effective working relationships with peers, managers, physicians, and other health care workers
Work requires superb communication / speaking / enunciation skills to receive and give information in person and by telephone
Must possess superior customer service skills and professional etiquette
Must possess proficient knowledge and ability to use a computer (must be keyboard proficient) and other office technology (i.e., telephone, fax, etc.), MS Outlook and Word
Must have a valid driver license as job requires traveling throughout the SRHS service area
Must be able to demonstrate appropriate clinical judgement and apply appropriate professional skills to a patient population of all ages
Must have knowledge in basic calculations for the conversion of common pressure units used in diving and hyperbaric practice (example include feet/meters, psi/bar/kPa, Kg/pound, etc)
Must be knowledgeable of the physical laws that influence pressure and its relation to volume, temperature, pressure and the effects of pressure on gases entering a patient's bloodstream
Must be aware of the signs and symptoms of the various pressure-related injuries and illnesses that a person in recompression may suffer
Preferred
A minimum of one (1) year hyperbaric experience preferred
Certification is preferred and should complete the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology (NBDHMT) approved hyperbaric medicine introductory training course
