Electrical Engineer – Data Center Solutions & Architecture

Responsibilities

Contribute to electrical design for data center projects, including one-line diagrams, grounding concepts, protection and coordination, and arc-flash mitigation strategies
Develop and review electrical design packages for constructability, safety, reliability, and compliance with project requirements
Serve as a technical resource for advanced power architectures, including HVDC concepts, solid-state transformers (SST), UPS systems, and busway/busduct solutions
Coordinate with internal teams, external engineers of record, contractors, utilities, and authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) throughout design and construction phases
Review calculations, drawings, and specifications prepared by internal or external partners to ensure quality and consistency
Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior and mid-level engineers
Support proposals, client meetings, and technical workshops by contributing electrical system expertise
Ensure designs comply with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA 70E, IEC, UL, and local regulations

Required

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
6–10+ years of experience designing electrical systems for data centers, mission-critical facilities, or large-scale industrial/commercial projects
Strong working knowledge of medium- and high-voltage power distribution, UPS systems, switchgear, grounding, and protection schemes
Experience with power system analysis and design tools such as ETAP, SKM, AutoCAD, Revit, or similar platforms
Demonstrated ability to independently execute complex technical work and collaborate across multidisciplinary teams
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex electrical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Preferred

Experience supporting hyperscale or AI-focused data center developments
Familiarity with utility interconnection processes, load studies, and substation coordination
Exposure to HVDC distribution, solid-state transformers (SST), or next-generation power architectures
Experience working with owners' engineering teams, EPC firms, or colocation providers
Knowledge of international codes and standards (IEC, IEEE) for global project support
Prior involvement in construction administration, commissioning, or integrated systems testing (IST)
Progress toward PE licensure or other professional engineering certifications
