Responsibilities

Performs a variety of tasks and responsibilities in the areas of course management, educational research, delivery of instruction, curriculum development, educational evaluation, and consultation
Serves as Course Manager for assigned courses in the field of Safety and Occupational Health, Environmental Safety, and Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste (HM/HW)
Instruct courses in the field of Safety and Occupational Health, covering some areas associated with environmental laws, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act facility compliance, and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
Develop and maintain course materials for assigned courses and coordinate course materials with DLA Headquarters
Plans and prepare courses in the field of Safety and Occupational Health, Environmental Safety, and HM/HW handling
Evaluates Safety and Occupational Health, Environmental Safety, and HM/HW training received by students

Required

Must be a U.S. citizen
One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular competencies to successfully perform the duties of the position and is directly in or related to this position
To qualify at the GS-12 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector
To qualify at the GS-11 level, applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-09 level or equivalent under other pay systems in the Federal service, military, or private sector
Experience with Safety and Occupational Health, Environmental Safety, and Hazardous Material/Hazardous Waste (HM/HW) and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER)
Instructing courses in Safety and Occupational Health, Environmental Safety, and HM/HW, and HAZWOPER
Experience with course development and project management principles and techniques
Experience with evaluative techniques and principles to evaluate programs of instruction

Preferred

Extensive knowledge of safety and occupational health regulations, standards, procedures, methods, and techniques applicable to identifying, evaluating, and controlling industrial hazards
Serving as a subject matter expert assisting in Safety and Hazardous Materials operations
Modify standard training techniques when needed to develop specialized safety education programs for complex operations and emerging hazardous technologies
Conducting detailed analyses of course requirements, objectives, and agenda
Manage safety and occupational health programs with diverse hazards, achieving regulatory compliance while developing effective training methodologies to communicate safety practices
