Responsibilities

Professional experience in the analysis of user requirements and development and implementation of computer-based solutions
Reviewing available hardware and/or software tools in order to make appropriate recommendations
Perform technical work that involves identifying user requirements, coding, development, and implementation of computer based solutions, problem analysis and implementation of a solution in situations of moderate difficulty
Analytical and technical work where user or project requirements are of moderate complexity
Develop a detailed plan for problem segmentation and inter-module linkage and implement individual components; determine project objectives by analyzing user needs; and determine the nature and sequence of the tasks that must be implemented in order to produce a solution
Analyze programming needs and develop applications that improve efficiency of DIR processes and operations
Work with users to identify and implement modifications that would make existing applications more effective
Use testing to successfully troubleshoot and resolve problems as they occur so applications are reliable and provide accurate information
Work effectively with vendors to develop programming to advance the development of DIR information technology systems
Create and maintain adequate application documentation for technical users as well as end-users
Maintain databases to ensure a smooth operating environment on a daily basis
Maintain adequate security, backup, and restoration strategies for databases
Analyze malfunctions as soon as they are identified, develop recommendations, and implement solutions
When needed as backup staff, ensure smooth system and network operations and address problems as they arise
Serve as a resource on system/network administration to other IT Professionals in DIR and provide training to ensure smooth network operations and prevent system and network errors
Ensure compliance with State information security policies
When needed as backup staff, ensure smooth computer operations and address user/helpdesk needs as they arise
Develop and provide user training so that it is timed in conjunction with the release of new or updated applications
Proactively work with supervisors to schedule and provide training for new staff and refresher training for existing staff when needed
Schedule and provide training requested by users in a timely manner to meet operational needs

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field
two years of professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position, applications analysis and development
