Responsibilities

Completes prioritization, receipt, registration, and distribution of specimens
Has responsibility for send out/reference lab shipping, tracking, and billing
Will perform waived testing, as requested
Will assist with processing of anatomic pathology specimens including preparation of microscopic tissue slides, staining and specimen management, as requested
Performs blood specimen collection, specimen receipt, and distribution of laboratory specimens; will perform CLIA waived laboratory tests, as requested
Will process anatomic pathology and cytology specimens, as requested
Assists pathologists and histotechs as needed
Will supervise or lead lab assistant I and II positions, as requested

Qualification

Phlebotomy certificationLaboratory experienceLaboratory computer experienceAnatomic pathology processingSoft skills

Required

High school diploma or equivalent
3 years of laboratory experience
Phlebotomy certification where State law requires

Preferred

Associate degree in the laboratory or medical-related field from an accredited institution
In addition to above, basic laboratory computer/lab information system experience
Completion of formal phlebotomy training program and/or national phlebotomy certification through ASCP, ANP, ASPT or similar
