Responsibilities

Reviews the engineering portion of simple to moderately complex applications for Environmental Resource Permits
Responsibilities include review of construction plans/drawings, calculations, data, legal documents, and hydrologic modeling to determine if projects meet the District criteria for water quality and flood protection; preparing technical staff reports and letters; conducting pre-application meetings including meeting to assist consultants in developing and completing their application through the design review process; coordinating the review of projects with other review team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting project actions, activities, and pertinent information
Reviews the engineering portion of simple to moderately complex compliance and enforcement projects, to evaluate conformance with District rules and issued permits
Responsibilities include conducting periodic site inspections during and upon completion of project construction/implementation to monitor system conditions; evaluating compliance submittals; reviewing and evaluating monitoring reports; responding to complaints and public information requests pertaining to rule violations; facilitating resolutions to non-compliance issues; performing permit determinations; writing technical reports and enforcement actions; reviewing legal documents and coordinating with legal staff; coordinating with other compliance team members and supervisors, as necessary; documenting compliance actions, activities and pertinent information; communicating regularly with the supervisor and compliance coordinator on compliance matters of heightened concern

Required

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural, water resource engineering or closely related field
Valid State of Florida Driver's License

Preferred

Two years engineering experience directly related to the field in which the position is assigned
An advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience
