2026 HISA Summer Internship - Communications

The Horseracing Integrity and Safety Authority (HISA) is seeking a motivated, full-time student for an exciting eight-week summer internship with the HISA Communications Team. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to gain experience in a fast-paced national organization that oversees the safety and integrity of Thoroughbred racing.

Responsibilities

Develop a working knowledge of HISA’s Racetrack Safety Program, Anti-Doping and Medication Control Program and its unique reporting structure to the FTC
Assist in drafting, editing and reviewing press releases and official communications related to HISA programs, advisory committees and regulatory initiatives
Support social media communications by drafting platform-specific copy and coordinating visuals
Assist with the creation of visual and multimedia content, including graphics and short-form videos, to support newsletters and social media outreach
Help update educational content on www.hisaus.org
Draft summaries, meeting notes and internal communications to support cross-team coordination and regulatory discussions
Tour a local racetrack near your home, exploring key areas such as the barn, sales pavilion, jockeys’ room and stewards’ booth, with guidance from experienced industry professionals

Required

Interest in pursuing a career in Communications
Passion for Thoroughbred racing and a desire to learn more about the sport
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (e.g., Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Teams, Word)
Ability to work professionally with internal leadership, external stakeholders and advisory committee members
Full-time undergraduate or graduate student seeking hands-on experience in dynamic setting
