Responsibilities
Install, terminate, label, and test:
Cat 5e
Cat 6
Cat 6A
Perform work in compliance with ANSI/TIA/EIA standards and customer specifications
Read and interpret drawings, riser diagrams, and scope of work documents
Perform certification testing and provide accurate test results
Install, terminate, and dress multi-pair riser and tie cables
Perform proper pair identification, labeling, and continuity testing
Single-mode and multimode fiber installation, including:
Backbone and horizontal fiber
Fusion splicing and mechanical splicing
Connector termination
Test fiber using light source and power meter
Understand and maintain acceptable loss budgets and test documentation
Proficient with a variety of copper and fiber test equipment
Identify, isolate, and resolve cabling faults, performance issues, and installation errors
Apply systematic troubleshooting techniques to minimize downtime and rework
Manage small to medium-sized projects in the field
Track materials against budgeted quantities and scope
Coordinate material staging and deliveries to ensure uninterrupted workflow
Provide daily material usage reports and submit packing slips promptly to the Project Manager
Serve as a professional, customer-facing representative on job sites
Communicate clearly and confidently with customers regarding:
Scope of work
Installation methods
Schedule and progress
Issues and resolutions
Attend customer meetings as required and present technical information clearly
Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times
Build customer confidence by demonstrating technical competence, organization, and attention to detail
Provide accurate daily reporting to the Project Manager, including:
Manpower requirements per the project plan
Daily manpower utilization
Material usage and delivery status
Maintain clear documentation related to testing, installation, and project progress
Qualification
Required
5+ years of hands-on telecommunications experience with structured cabling systems in commercial and/or enterprise environments
Install, terminate, label, and test Cat 5e, Cat 6, and Cat 6A
Perform work in compliance with ANSI/TIA/EIA standards and customer specifications
