Senior Scientist
iCura Diagnostics, Inc is seeking a highly motivated scientist to perform immunohistochemistry, multiplexing immunofluorescence, and other histology tests, as well as some genomics tests. The role involves conducting various histology-related tests, data analysis, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
Conduct immunohistochemistry, multiplex immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence, in situ hybridization (ISH) and other histology related tests
Perform digital whole slide scanning, entry or mid level digital whole slide image analysis, and data interpretation
Perform general tasks in histology lab, such as tissue fixation, processing into FFPE blocks, FFPE tissue sectioning, frozen tissue sectioning, regular HE stains and special stains
Perform genomics tasks such as nucleic acid extraction from FFPE blocks, slides, and curl, from fresh or frozen tissue, from blood and swabs, etc
Perform PCR, qPCR, and NGS
Analyze study project requests, protocols, draft study plan and data analysis algorithms and workflows
Establish and optimize test methodologies, instrument utility and application workflow
Execute study plan and perform the tests according to regulatory requirements (CLIA/CAP/GLP) such as raw data logging, test reporting, data analysis, trouble shooting, and final study report (including method development, verification, validation, sample analysis, statistical analysis, and summarization)
Be responsible for performing routine quality control procedures, drafting SOPs, maintaining instruments, monitoring inventories, purchasing lab supplies, and preparing for compliance audits
Participate in scientific and technical trainings/meetings with external clients and vendors
Provide training and supervision to new and junior team members
Lead scientific and operation discussions with laboratory management
Under the supervision of laboratory management, administrate the laboratory information systems (LIS) and users in Windows Active Directory
Document incidents and generate reports for laboratory operations related issues
Support laboratory management on sales, marketing, and quality related issues
Other tasks as assigned
Qualification
Required
At least 3 years of experience with histology and molecular pathology related work, most preferably on human samples, especially focused on oncology
Experiences in immunohistochemistry (IHC), multiplex Immunofluorescence staining and image analysis
Experience in a regulatory compliant environment
Effective troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills
Motivation and capability to learn new skills
Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
Preferred
Additional experience with genomics work as listed in job description is highly desirable
ASCP certification is highly desirable
