Responsibilities

Support sample registration, labeling, traceability, and storage
Perform sample preparation including:
Sectioning with trim saw and automated mill
Mounting using various medias
Grinding and polishing using Abrapol and Tegramin grinders
Surface etching with acids
Use a microscope as an analysis tool for dimensional measurement and evaluation of surface features
Equipment set up, cleaning, troubleshooting, calibration, and operation
Real time documentation of test protocols and data collection
Author and review laboratory processes
Assist engineers and scientist in equipment and process qualifications
Participate in and or lead continuous improvement projects
Perform general support including preparing chemical solutions and maintaining inventory of consumable supplies
Perform work in adherence to procedures, department policies and regulatory requirements

Required

Minimum of 2 years related experience in technical areas such as in metallurgical, electronic, mechanical or related technical discipline
Good written and verbal communication skills to interface effectively with clients, laboratory personnel, and other functions
Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented and able to work in a fast-paced team environment
Ability to prioritize and execute on daily tasks
Ability to work and be effective with minimal supervision

Preferred

2-year technical degree in metallurgical, electronic, mechanical or related technical discipline
Experience working in and documenting experiments in a highly regulated environment
Experience with Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
Experience with continuous improvement tools such as, Lean Sigma or Six Sigma
Experience and understanding of cGMP, ISO17025, FDA and ICH requirements
