Responsibilities

Prepare discovery documents by redacting and bates numbering documentary evidence compiled for immigration crime matters primarily related to Title 8 U.S.C. § 1326(a) Re-Entry of Removed Aliens, Title 8 U.S.C. § 8 U.S.C. § 1325 Improper Entry, 8 U.S.C. § 1324 Harboring Illegal Alien for Financial Profit, and 18 U.S.C. § 922(g)(5) Possession of Firearm by Illegal Alien violations

Create and uploaded tracking spreadsheets for discovery and/or production on immigration enforcement matters associated primarily with Title 8 §1326(a) and (b) subsections

Perform research in various databases to locate and review various documents related to Title 8 USC §1326 violations

Compile subpoena packets

Review and assemble pretrial petition packets to assist in hearings

Prepare evidence binders for attorney review

Draft Fast Track Plea Offer packets using sentencing guidelines

File various motions, stipulations, and notices of appearance

Assists trial staff in coordination with expert witnesses and litigation consultants

Required

Must be able to obtain and maintain MRPT facility credentials/authorization. Note: US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location

Requires paralegal certificate, or JD, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school, having completed at least one (1) year of study

At least three years of litigation paralegal experience, including trial experience

At least one year of experience in automated litigation support

Must have supervisory experience, including proven capabilities and communication skills to successfully interact with clients and attorneys

Requires sound working knowledge of federal and state court system, legal research procedures, and legal research resources

Requires excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw

Must have hands-on familiarity with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (such as document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging

Ability to consistently deliver highest quality work under extreme pressure will be very important
