Aptara is seeking an Instructional Designer with technical writing experience for the design and development of instructor-led and on-the-job training for apprenticeships in the utilities industry. The role involves developing learning materials, performing task analyses, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create effective training content.

Responsibilities

Develop learning materials for technical content, including hands-on practice activities, student guides, facilitator guides, scenarios, videos, assessments, simulations, and other instructional media

Perform a detailed task analysis for each job function, business process, or system for which training will be developed

Partner with cross-functional teams to conceptualize training design and content

Define learning objectives, and course structure aligned to stakeholder needs and to meet the constraints of the learning environment

Work under the direction of the Senior Instructional Designer to apply company standards, guidelines, and templates

Write clear and effective instructional text, audio, or video scripts appropriate for the target audience

Lead milestone meetings with subject matter experts, including task analysis, alpha, beta, and train the trainer

Engage with subject matter experts for ongoing content review and validation

Strong knowledge of PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams

Demonstrated ability to execute and deliver against multiple competing deadlines, as needed
