The Analyst will develop and implement market research strategies, analyze industry trends, and provide data-driven insights to inform business decisions.

Responsibilities

Proactively track, analyze and report on trends for key commodities that most impact GATX’s fleet utilization

Support Fleet Portfolio Management team with commodity analysis to inform fleet strategy

Leverage external consultants, research firms and data sources, managing project scope and deliverables for engagements

Attend relevant seminars and conferences to augment internal analysis and share with relevant stakeholders

Perform research and analysis on North American rail industry and potential impacts to GATX business, including identification of growth opportunities

Support the Sales department and other teams with market, market share, customer, and industry analyses, including customer segmentation, commodities, rail industry trends, competitors, market analyses and other relevant topics

Answer ad hoc requests from across all of GATX, including international analyses

Develop quarterly management updates, Board presentations and other reporting through analyses and presentation materials on industry and economic indicators

Prepare presentations and/or analyses in support of customer meetings, earnings calls, industry events and any other relevant activities

Required

Bachelor's Degree required in Finance, Analytics, Economics or similar field preferred

2-4 year's work experience in analyzing and researching markets/commodities, strategy, business development opportunities or an equivalent analytical role
