Bankruptcy Paralegal
Meredith Law Firm, LLC is an established bankruptcy law firm seeking a talented, highly motivated Paralegal in their North Charleston office. The role involves managing client communications, preparing and filing bankruptcy cases, and maintaining accurate records in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Point of contact for your assigned client(s)
Keep up-to-date records on any changes to client and court requirements
Prepare and file Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases on behalf of debtors, which includes preparing petitions and schedules
Draft variety of court filings including Proof of Claim, motions, objections, notices accurately and error free
Must be able to read and interpret payment and financial records
Maintain timely and accurate communications with clients and attorneys
Ability to manage time and independently problem solve
Act as backup for legal receptionist as needed and assist with general office duties (including but not limited to faxing, emailing, copying, drafting correspondences)
Qualification
Required
At least two (2) years of bankruptcy experience is required
At least two (2) years of previous experience as a bankruptcy paralegal working on behalf of debtors for Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 cases is required
Strong Attention to detail with the ability to multi-task as a self-starter
E-filing experience using CM/ECF
Adaptable and quick to learn and work with a sense of urgency
Must be able to meet strict deadlines
Effective communication skills and the ability to work with different personalities and feel comfortable relaying messages between clients and attorneys
Reliable attendance is required
Experience with Office 365, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Adobe Acrobat, Best Case, Next Chapter
