Head of International Pupil Welfare

The International Pupil Welfare Lead will oversee wellbeing, cultural adjustment, and safeguarding, collaborating closely with House staff, parents, guardians, and the pastoral team.

Responsibilities
Act as an additional point of contact for international pupils and their families
Support pupils’ emotional, social, and cultural adjustment to boarding life
Promote inclusion and cultural awareness across the College community
Monitoring attendance in support of the HMs and Safeguarding in conjunction with the DSL
Provide guidance and reassurance to pupils and parents on welfare matters
Work closely with Housemasters/mistresses, safeguarding team, and academic staff to address any concerns promptly
Deliver briefings and updates to staff on international pupil welfare
Oversee compliance processes relating to guardianship for all boarding pupils (Child Student Visa sponsored and non-sponsored)
Ensure all appointed guardians comply with UKVI requirements and the National Minimum Standards for Boarding Schools
Oversee and check all Letters of Undertaking, ensuring documentation is accurate, complete, and compliant with statutory and regulatory standards
Collate Parental Consent Forms and Guardian agreements prior to pupils joining
Carry out Guardian checks to ensure necessary compliance
Check all travel arrangements and Whereabouts Forms for overseas pupils at privs, exeat weekends, half terms, and the school holidays are compliant with UKVI requirements, the National Minimum Standards and safeguarding expectations
Liaise with House staff and safeguarding teams to verify that guardian and travel arrangements remain suitable and compliant throughout a pupil’s time at the College
Qualification
Required
Experience working in a pastoral, welfare, or safeguarding role within an educational setting
Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with cultural sensitivity
High level of integrity and confidentiality
Understanding of safeguarding responsibilities for children and young people
Preferred
Experience supporting international pupils in a boarding environment
Knowledge of cultural adjustment and wellbeing strategies
Familiarity with iSAMs or similar school management systems
Relevant qualification or experience in compliance, administration, or safeguarding
