Responsibilities

Develops and implements departmental policies related to the accounting research function

Manages the staff of the research and policy function

Reviews complex transactions for applicable accounting guidance and coordinates with personnel initiating the transaction: Tax, FP&A, Financial Reporting, and others

Manages the process to obtain agreement from our external auditors on our accounting for complex transactions

Manages the implementation of new accounting guidance from FASB, the SEC, and others

Manages the review, updating, and publication of accounting policies and corporate policies owned by the Chief Financial Officer

Manages resources loaned to the Financial Reporting group during peak work times for Financial Reporting

Required

Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), standard accounting policies, procedures, and practices

Knowledge and experience with financial statement preparation

Knowledge of SEC reporting rules and regulations

Ability to effectively lead, manage, and develop an engaged workforce

Extensive resourcefulness to anticipate, define, and direct solutions to complex and/or unusual accounting, finance, or regulatory issues related to the business area

Extensive analytical skills, including the ability to draw sound conclusions and act decisively
