Sr Mechanical Engineer - Acoustic Sensor Build & Test Lead

Responsibilities

Conduct a detailed review of the Technical Data Package, Test Requirements and Test instructions for acoustic sensors
Conduct hands on check outs of existing tooling and test equipment and ensure they will support compliance to the TDP
Work closely with the program leadership team to develop a compressive plan and schedule from initial documentation review through sensor build and test
Perform hands on builds of acoustic sensors
Train and lead others in build and test steps such that the program can achieve critical schedule goals
Work with manufacturing engineering, operations and supply chain functions, as needed to facilitate the build and test of acoustic sensors
Work with limited supervision and meet commitments for assigned schedule, financial, and technical goals
Participate in status reviews, resolve action items, and conduct investigations to resolve issues encountered in order to make/inform sound technical decisions
Mentor and guide less experienced engineers
Occasional CONUS travel to customer sites or suppliers is generally required. International and longer duration travel assignments may be available but optional
Prepare and present status briefs to Hardware, Operations and Program leadership

Required

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations
A minimum of 2 years of experience in Acoustic engineering focusing on acoustic sensors and associated manufacturing process
Experience in leading small team efforts with cost and schedule responsibility
Experience with building acoustic sensors, including experience working with adhesives, ceramics, acoustic isolation materials and their assembly process
Experience working with functions outside of engineering, specifically Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing Engineering and Quality
Experience with configuration management systems and practices
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Preferred

Demonstrated strong performance in a Manufacturing Engineering role
Experience in the specification, design, development, production and testing of electronics systems. Specific knowledge of packaging electronic equipment to meet physical and environmental constraints is preferred
Experience in selection of materials for structural, thermal, mechanical, electrical, producibility, and environmental considerations including corrosion mitigation and prevention
Experience interfacing with subcontractors and working with the program leadership team to resolve technical and manufacturing issues
Experience with Military and Commercial Specifications
Experience with PTC CREO and PDM
Experience managing financial and schedule performance of program level tasking
Experience and certifications in Earned Value Management System
Demonstrated expertise in product assembly, fabrication methods, manufacturing processes and technologies including machined components & products
Demonstrated ability to solve difficult problems while working as part of a cross function team
Strong communication skillset with ability to articulate, in both oral and written form, to technical, non-technical and management audiences
