The GIS Analyst serves a critical role in generating revenue for Utah’s public schools and other important state institutions and in protecting and enhancing the value of Utah’s trust lands for current and future generations.

Responsibilities

Maintain GIS data within an Enterprise Geodatabase (ArcSDE)
ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS maintenance
Design and maintain GIS services and web applications
ArcGIS Field Maps maintenance
Internal projects and requests
Map production
Python for ArcGIS
Document data processes, integrity and quality
Analyze, summarize and review data

Qualification

Required

Bachelor's degree in Geographic Information Systems, Geography, Planning, or related field
Excellent cartographic skills and attention to detail
Map and interpret metes and bounds descriptions and aliquot parts
Experience or knowledge with the Public Lands Survey System
Experience or knowledge with creating and maintaining GIS map services
Experience or knowledge with ArcGIS Field Maps
Familiarity with GPS
Georeference and digitize scanned maps
Perform and interpret slope analysis, viewshed analysis and 3D analysis
Appear for scheduled work with regular, reliable and punctual attendance
Prioritize, organize and complete tasks within a specified time frame
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
Communicate effectively (written and oral)
Work independently and with others
Maintain a professional demeanor under a heavy workload or stressful situations
Effectively respond to and reconcile competing interests of governmental entities, community organizations, contractors and the public
Focus on customer needs and provide exceptional service to both internal and external stakeholders
Problem-solve and create innovative solutions
Interpret and apply standard operating procedures
Prepare graphic design layouts for presentations and maps
Prepare and make effective presentations
Establish and maintain accurate records and documentation of processes
Successful completion of a criminal background check

Preferred

1-3 years of GIS experience and cartographic skills
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS Pro
Ability to interpret metes and bounds descriptions
Familiarity with the Public Lands Survey System (PLSS)
