Engineering Technician I - Clinton Construction
The N.C. Department of Information Technology is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Engineering Technician I. This role involves contract administration and engineering oversight of highway construction projects, providing support to higher-level technicians and engineers, and ensuring effective communication with various stakeholders.

Responsibilities
Providing general office and computer support, with a focus on data entry and maintenance of project records in SAP and HiCAMS
Processing monthly and final estimates
Verifying calculations
Resolving discrepancies in pay records and material quantities
Researching project documentation
Processing material prepayments
Tracking DBE participation
Assisting with project meetings
Monitoring Technician Certifications to ensure they remain current
Maintaining effective communication with technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public
Working safely outdoors and in active construction environments
Performing moderate physical activity, including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing, as well as lifting up to 50 pounds
Qualification
Required
At least two years of related experience
Ability to work safely outdoors and in active construction environments
Ability to maintain effective communication with technicians, engineers, contractors, and the public
Ability to convey information in a clear, concise, professional, and persuasive manner
Moderate physical activity including walking, climbing, balancing, kneeling, and standing
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Availability for night and weekend work as required
Ability to travel to any assigned project within the Division
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Legally operate a motor vehicle
Associate's degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Survey Technology or assigned discipline from an appropriately accredited institution; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred
Experience planning, developing, scheduling, tracking, and completing projects independently or with limited supervision
Experience applying engineering concepts to solve complex problems
Experience working in a team environment to complete assignments
Knowledge and skill in the use of computer equipment, iPad and software
Experience in customer service and interacting with the general public
