USAJOBS is seeking a Title 32 Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic to serve as shop chief over a small organizational segment in a maintenance function. The role involves planning and executing maintenance tasks, ensuring safety compliance, and participating in readiness evaluations.

Responsibilities
Plans and lays out work to be accomplished in the shop which is then completed by the technician and lower graded mechanic(s). Determines approaches, methods and courses of action required to accomplish the mission of the shop in an effective and efficient manner. Independently determines appropriate maintenance procedures. Estimates time, equipment and material requirements. Devises and maintains plans and records. May provide recommendations and input to supervisor concerning personnel actions such as performance appraisals, awards, position description changes, disciplinary actions, and leave
Performs the full range of shop work
Implements safety regulatory requirements. Ensures that other workers in the shop wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions
Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization and command support exercises. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft fire/crash/rescue duty, security guard, snow removal, munitions loading and handling, heavy equipment operation, maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies
Performs other duties as assigned

Required

This is an excepted service position that requires membership in military assignment in WV's National Guard, and is required prior to the effective date of placement
Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform

Male applicants born after 12/31/1959 and are required to register under the Military Selective Service Act, the Defense Authorization Act of 1986 requires that you be registered, or you are not eligible for appointment in this agency

Required to obtain and maintain a satisfactory security clearance, AND, as a minimum, a completed National Agency Check (NAC) prior to assignment

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Experience or training which demonstrates your knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles; knowledge of troubleshooting procedures used to isolate malfunctions in aircraft pneudraulic systems; and ability to use technical manuals, equipment specifications, and test calibration procedures in performing the work
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which provided a knowledge of basic electrical and mechanical principles. Experience in fabricating fuel, oil, and vacuum hose lines. Experience in servicing, maintaining, disassembling assembling, repairing and testing hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Experience in diagnosing malfunctions and overhauling pneudraulic accessories by disassembling, cleaning part and examining parts. Experience in diagnosing trouble and determining remedies. Experience in repairing, rebuilding, and overhauling major systems of ground equipment and pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Experience in mechanical repairs using hand tools and test equipment. Experience that demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications
