The State of Florida is seeking a Regulatory Specialist II to join the Department of Health. This role involves performing professional and regulatory activities for the Board of Medicine, ensuring qualified health care professionals can work in the state and providing access to necessary health care for Floridians.

Responsibilities
Independently reviews and evaluates transcripts, degrees, and other educational materials of individuals trained in the United States or foreign countries to determine eligibility for certification and licensure in a specific profession in accordance with respective Florida statutory and Board requirements
Enters and maintains accurate data and uploads documentation on licensees and the status of initial and/or renewal applications and licensure in relevant electronic databases
Responds directly and in a timely fashion via writing, online chat, or over the phone to public inquiries on licensure status, deficiencies, and requirements; relevant statues or applicable board rules; and technical issues regarding the licensure process
Conducts research into educational materials, Florida Statutes, Board rules, and other relevant items to make decisions on whether individuals meet the accreditation standards for the requested license or certification
Establishes and maintains a paper and/or electronic filing system of all documentation and communication received from those applying for licensure in assigned profession(s)
Supports supervisors by preparing agenda materials for Board/Committee meetings and attending said meetings when needed
Summarizes and prepares initial and/or renewal application files and supporting documentation for review by Board members
Performs other related work as required to maintain an efficient office which responds promptly to the needs of licensees, applicants, consumers, the legislature, and other areas of the Department, including, but not limited to, training new employees and assisting with office phone coverage
Runs reports daily to ensure the office is performing efficiently and meeting statutory deadlines
Reviews other team members’ work for accuracy
Qualification
Required
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally in writing and verbally
Ability to exercise independent judgement and initiative in carrying out assignments
Ability to learn, understand, and apply Florida Statutes, rules, policies, and procedures for licensing
Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work activities to meet strict deadlines
Ability to concentrate, provide great attention to detail, and maintain a pre-approved work schedule
Ability to work independently and establish and maintain dependable, effective working relationships with others
Ability to learn and utilize job-specific software such as LEIDS and AxiomPro and office equipment such as phones, fax machines, scanners, and copiers
Knowledge and proficiency of Microsoft Office software and in using Windows-based computers
Preferred
High School Diploma or equivalent and 2 years' experience that includes data entry, document preparation, computer software use, evaluating legal documents or evaluating for compliance with regulations, customer service, or handling sensitive information
College education can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
