Senior Manufacturing Engineer
EVONA is a fast-growing energy technology startup developing the world’s first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. They are seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to play a key role in delivering a first-of-its-kind nuclear energy system, working closely with design, operations, and quality teams to develop and execute manufacturing processes for complex mechanical components and assemblies.
Responsibilities
Own manufacturing and inspection processes for critical mechanical components and assemblies
Partner with design engineers to develop and refine production methods for complex mechanisms and structures
Develop, qualify, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, schedule, and cost requirements
Create and maintain manufacturing specifications, fabrication instructions, and work travelers
Manage manufacturing bills of materials (mBOMs)
Identify, qualify, and manage suppliers and fabrication partners
Plan and execute capital equipment, tooling, and facility layout upgrades
Drive continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing efficiency and product quality
Support delivery of demonstration and test hardware in a highly regulated environment
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related discipline
4+ years of experience manufacturing mechanical products in a production environment
Experience working with complex, safety-critical, or highly regulated hardware systems
Preferred
Master's degree in a related engineering discipline
Hands-on experience with machining processes (milling, turning, grinding, EDM)
Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
Experience with inspection tools and systems, including manual gauges and CMMs
Familiarity with non-destructive testing and evaluation methods
Experience with custom machine or electromechanical system design (motors, actuators, linear motion, bearings, lifting/rigging)
CAD experience designing multi-component assemblies (NX or similar)
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and bias toward execution
Ability to collaborate effectively across design, manufacturing, and operations teams
