ASSOCIATE STATE ARCHAEOLOGIST
Caltrans District 3 is seeking an Associate State Archaeologist to work under the Historic Properties Program. The role involves conducting archaeological investigations, managing cultural resources, and providing guidance on historic property preservation.

Responsibilities
Perform the more difficult and varied work in archaeological investigation and cultural resource management
Utilize their knowledge of pertinent laws and regulations to review and comment on, or prepare, documents addressing cultural resources/historic property identification, evaluation and treatment
Provide guidance that may assist in preserving and managing historic properties
Prepare eligibility assessments and nominations for archeological resources
Serve as the Cultural Resources Emergency Preparedness and Response Coordinator
Manage the Archeological Investigations and Collections Permitting process on behalf of the Department Preservation Officer
Support cultural resources management needs across Park units
Coordinate requests for emergency Cultural Resource Advisors and collections evacuations
Respond to emergency incidents
Qualification
Required
A valid California Drivers License (CDL)
Education, training, experience and skills that meet the criteria in the duty statement
Completed Application Package including Your Examination/Employment Application (STD 678) and applicable or required documents
Preferred
Communicative, collaborative, organized, detail oriented
Ability to effectively present ideas orally and in writing
Experience with emergency response
