Senior Structural Analyst - New Shepard

Responsibilities

Support the analysis, development, and testing of primary and secondary structures, including composites and metallic piece parts, as well as integrated structural assemblies
Detailed hand calc and FEM analysis of primary and secondary aerospace structures
Documentation of stress analysis to support release of engineering drawings / documents
Coach, mentor and technically assist junior engineers
Support configuration development and trade studies
Analysis checks for designers and junior structural analysts in stress/stability/fracture analysis and best practices
Work with vertically-integrated teams that are responsible for materials, manufacturing processes, to produce world-class aerospace hardware
Maintaining and reporting on activity schedule, budget and technical status
Identify opportunities for safety improvements and operational cost savings

Required

Minimum of a B.S. degree or higher in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
10+ years of experience within the fields of aircraft, spacecraft, or launch vehicle structures or systems analysis
Demonstrated excellence in the following areas: Static analysis of composite and metallic structures, Analysis of stability critical structures, Damage tolerance assessment of composite and metallic structures, Vehicle level finite element model pre- and post-processing as well as model verification and validation
Demonstrated proficiency with one or more of the following analysis codes, particularly with reading and manipulating input files: Optistruct ANSYS
Demonstrated expertise is use of Altair Hyperworks products
Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate across a team, earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships

Preferred

Knowledge of aerospace and/or launch vehicle structural requirements
Familiarity with composite failure modes and standard test methods (in-plane, interlaminar, shear, fracture, etc.)
Experience with analysis of Mechanical Systems
Experience with analysis of Hydraulic/Pneumatic Systems
Loads development experience
Experience with Creo (ProEngineer Wildfire 4 or greater)
