Electrical Lineworker
Turlock Irrigation District is seeking an experienced Electrical Lineworker to perform skilled work in the construction and maintenance of electrical transmission and distribution systems. The role involves climbing poles, installing and replacing lines, and supervising apprentices while ensuring safety compliance.

Responsibilities
Climb poles, towers, and work at various heights above the ground installing and replacing primary and secondary lines
Replace equipment while distribution primaries are energized by using rubber gloves or hot sticks
Set poles, towers, and construction of other devices to guy and hold electrical lines
String new wire, maintain and repair transmission, distribution secondary, fiber optics and other communication lines
Install, repair, splice and maintain underground electric systems and equipment. Operate presses, shoring, gas monitoring, and ventilating equipment
Install and operate line equipment such as transformers, switches, cut-outs, disconnects, insulators, circuit breakers, capacitors, terminators, reclosers and line apparatus
Install, connect, and maintain transformers
Remove old poles and fixtures
Transfer energized primary lines by using rubber gloves or hot sticks
Test pole lines and other facilities
Trim trees to clear lines
Drive and operate electrical line equipment including but not limited to reel trucks, diggers, aerial lifts, underground pulling equipment and USA fault and radar locating equipment
Plan and initiate projects
Supervise and train Apprentice Electrical Lineworkers and apprentices
Transmission and distribution line patrolling
Inspect contractor's work on trenches, conduit, vaults and transformer pads
Hazardous materials response and clean up
Follow OSHA and TID safety requirements
Install and maintain dusk-to-dawn lights and streetlights
Follow DOT and Cal-Trans rules for safe traffic control
Serve as acting Line Supervisor as assigned
Respond to emergency situations
Perform other related duties as required or assigned by supervisor
Qualification
Required
Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade
Completion of an apprenticeship program or recognized status as an Electrical Lineworker
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work
Knowledge of basic electricity
Knowledge of methods, materials and techniques of electrical lineworker trade
Knowledge of installation, operation, and maintenance of overhead and underground transmission and distribution wires
Knowledge of hazard and safety measures of the trade
Knowledge of California Public Utilities Commission Publications General Order #95 and #128
Ability to climb poles and work at various heights
Ability to use independent judgment and initiative
Ability to read and interpret line construction plans and written instructions
Ability to apply first aid and artificial respiration
Ability to operate electrical line equipment
Ability to use and care for the tools and equipment of the trade
Appropriate Driver's License (As Required for Job Classification)

Health Insurance is provided by the District and administered through our Third Party Administrator. Turlock Irrigation District utilizes the •Anthem Blue Cross Prudent Buyer PPO Network•. Out-of-pocket expenses can be limited if Anthem Blue Cross plan providers and hospitals are used. Employees have a choice of a PPO Plan or a HDHP (High Deductible Health Plan) during open enrollment or a qualifying event as per IRS plan guidelines.
Prescription Insurance is administered by •Express Scripts•. We have a four-tiered co-pay structured plan: generic; formulary; non-formulary; & specialty. For maintenance medications, the Express Scripts •"Mail Order"• plan is most cost effective.
Dental Insurance is provided by the District and administered through •Delta Dental PPO Network.• Preventative benefits are paid at 100%; basic benefits are paid at 80%, crowns, jackets and cast restoration benefits are paid at 50%. The District offers a voluntary Base Plus Buy-Up plan. Employee costs are minimized when utilizing a Delta Dental PPO Dentist/Orthodontist.
Vision Insurance is provided by the District and administered through •VSP•. Employee costs are minimized when utilizing the •VSP• Network. The District offers a voluntary Buy-Up Vision plan.
Flexible Spending Account •(Section 125)• is made available to employees to cover health and/or dependent care expenses on a pre-tax basis. A flexible spending account credit card is provided by •BCC• for health care reimbursable expenses as per IRS regulations.
Health Savings Account is made available for those employees electing the High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) only. A Health Savings Account credit card is provided by •BCC• for health care reimbursable expenses as per IRS regulations.
Life Insurance & Accidental Death & Dismemberment Insurance is provided by the District through •VOYA Employee Benefits•. Coverage amount is two times the employee's annual base salary. The maximum benefit is $200,000.
Supplemental Life Insurance (Employees/Dependents) is available to District employees on a voluntary basis from •VOYA Employee Benefits.• Employees may elect up to $500,000, in addition to electing spousal coverage up to a maximum of $100k.
Long Term Disability is provided by the District and administered by •VOYA Employee Benefits.• The benefit may reimburse up to 66.66% of basic monthly earnings.
Deferred Compensation •(457b plan)• is available on a voluntary basis to District employees. Contributions are made before taxes through payroll deductions. Employees can authorize withholdings per IRS guidelines. Catch up provisions are available at age 50.
Social Security/Medicare participation is required for all employees. The District matches the employee contribution.
Retirement Benefits are provided by the District with a contribution by employees. The Defined Benefit Plans are based on date of hire, age, years of service, and average monthly salary at the age you elect to retire. Please refer to the appropriate retirement plan document based on date of hire.
