Head of Department, Automation – Mystère (Treasure Island)
Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group is a renowned entertainment organization, and they are seeking a Head of Department for Automation for their Mystère production at Treasure Island. The role involves supervising the automations department, ensuring the quality and integrity of performances, and coordinating staff training and maintenance activities.

Responsibilities
Supervise and delegate responsibility to staff of the automations department
Coordinate the automations crew working on maintenance, rehearsals, artist training and perfect performance cue tracks
Preserve the ongoing long term “opening night” quality and artistic integrity of the production
Coordinate scheduling and training of staff as required
Be available and flexible for work schedules, work calls, training, maintenance and performances
Operate the automations control console during performances and insure training of multiple back up technicians
Ensure the integrity of automations show movements during performances in keeping with the intent of the artistic director and designer
Coordinate special projects including the research, purchase and installation of specialty automation related gear
Prioritize and assign maintenance and inspection of automation systems, including stage lifts, line sets, moving scenic elements, hydraulic systems, sky motion, center ceiling, winches and motors, and remote control devices, on a regular schedule to insure thorough, timely scrutiny of all gear within the automations domain
Work closely with the artistic team and stage management in supporting their needs during rehearsals and performances
Insure that equipment and supplies are stocked in sufficient quantity to insure the ongoing needs of the production
Maintain safety procedures for staff by enforcing fall protection protocols, the use of personal protective gear, and safe tool handling
Insure automation department documentation is current and formally recorded to preserve the original intention of the designers
Be responsible for the efficient management of labor and material expenses in the automations department within parameters set by production management
Document all system and show cue changes and keep a log of all maintenance and regular inspections
Assist with the establishment of standard operating procedures and lead the department by conforming to and improving these procedures
Coordinate the administrative needs of the department including: purchasing paperwork, disciplinary matters, vacation requests, daily payroll time sheets for staff, labor and material estimations, and specifications for production management
Participate on all company required training classes including OSHA 10, fall protection, heart saver, CPR/AED, lock out, and tag out
Responsible for insuring all outside events are staffed and coordinated properly so that each event is successful and professional while insuring Mystère’s show quality
All other duties as assigned by the technical director and operations production manager
Qualification
Required
High school diploma required
Preferred
Minimum of 5 years' experience as head of automations in the field of live stage performance preferred
Experience in running an automation (TAIT Navigator) department with large scale productions preferred
Must be proficient in the installation and repair of automation related gear
Computer knowledge particularly in the areas of internet research, data base management, purchasing software, Excel, Word and Outlook preferred
Professional automations and hydraulic experience both in repairs and installations preferred
Knowledge of OSHA health and safety protocols preferred
(OSHA) completion of OSHA 30 preferred
