Responsibilities

Development of US scientific and technical all-source intelligence-based simulations to characterize the flight performance of threat ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, aero-ballistic missiles, hypersonic cruise missiles, and hypersonic glide vehicle performance for use in supporting Golden Dome America and MDA missile defense acquisition programs as well as Navy operational testing of hardkill and softkill performance via models and simulation. Development of U.S. interceptor missile flight simulations (3DOF to 6DOF) and models for the evaluation of the performance of the interceptor vs. the threat missile systems. The candidate will include:
Development of 6DOF aerodynamics, mass properties, propulsion system performance, guidance, navigation and control algorithms, seeker/sensor algorithms for search, detection, track, and decision logic for target selection and ECCM
Characterization of threat missile performance envelopes including development of understanding of the impact of intelligence uncertainty on the overall flight performance and characteristics that impact Navy radar and weapon system designs
Development and use of optimization tool suites for the development and evaluation of advanced interceptor and foreign missile system guidance and control system techniques
Executing design trade studies to fill in intelligence gaps to inform decisions regarding engineering modeling and simulation representations of foreign missile systems
Modeling of threat flight variations due to variations in environmental factors, modeling uncertainties, and missile-round to round variations
Documentation and presentation of work to internal and external customers
Support of ongoing activities in developing a high fidelity Six Degrees-of-Freedom (6-DOF) digital flight simulation architecture and environment
Ongoing development and refinement of flight optimization software and AI/ML efforts to support Navy, Missile Defense Agency, and Golden Dome America efforts to develop robust defensive weapon systems utilizing complex fire control algorithms, inflight guidance modifications, and robust, adaptive control system designs
Performing research and augmenting toolsets to enhance modeling techniques and improve current modeling and simulation processes
