ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENTIST
Caltrans District 3 is seeking an Environmental Scientist to support the Department of Fish and Wildlife's conservation efforts. The role involves coordinating data collection and management for wildlife species, utilizing R and GIS software for data analysis.

Responsibilities
Coordinate logistics and implementation of data collection and data management procedures and pipelines
Use R and GIS software to format and quality control data from wildlife surveys
Participate in biological resource work in the field
Travel throughout the state for meetings and fieldwork
Qualification
Required
Possession of a valid Class C Driver's License
Demonstrated ability to act independently to resolve technical issues
Ability to develop schedules and complete tasks accordingly
Meet reporting requirements and deadlines
Ability to occasionally participate in biological resource work in the field
Travel throughout the state
Work at odd hours
Ability to develop and make effective oral presentations before the public
Education and experience related to managing large complex databases, especially for GPS telemetry
Education and experience related to data wrangling in R and GIS including formatting and quality control, especially for wildlife survey data
Education and experience pertaining to wildlife ecology and wildlife survey methods
Education and experience pertaining to effectively communicating with diverse people and groups on data management projects
Preferred
Familiarity with the workings of a state wildlife agency, especially with regards to conservation and management of big game species
