REVENUE SPECIALIST III (Supervisor - Post Audit) Compliance Division

The State of Maryland is seeking a Revenue Specialist III to join their Compliance Division. The role involves supervising auditors in the Post Audit group and providing support in tax investigations, while ensuring compliance with tax laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

Provide supervision and support to auditors assigned to the Post Audit group in the Tax Investigation Unit
Provide additional assistance to auditors assigned to the RAR group also within the Tax Investigation unit as needed or in the absence of the RAR supervisor
Distributing correspondence to the auditors and tracking correspondence to assure it is handled and processed in a timely manner
Maintaining a thorough knowledge of current and proper Federal and Maryland income tax laws and regulations

Required

Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate, including or supplemented by a course in bookkeeping or accounting
Five years of experience performing work in tax assessment, collections, investigations, examinations, adjustments or taxpayer services within two or more of the specialized fields of revenue administration or performing work in tax assessment, collections, investigations, examinations, adjustments or taxpayer services within the motor fuel/motor carrier tax field
The specialized fields may include sales and use tax, income tax, admissions and amusement tax, withholding tax, alcohol and tobacco tax, and any other revenue levy authorized by the legislature
Candidates may substitute the possession of an Associate of Arts degree from an accredited college or university for one year of the required experience
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, with twelve credit hours in accounting or auditing, for two years of the required experience
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a non-commissioned officer in finance technician classification or finance technician specialty codes in the financial clerical and technician field of work on a year-for-year basis for the required experience
For education obtained outside of the U.S., you will be required to provide proof of the equivalent American education as determined by a foreign credential evaluation service
