They are seeking Theater Program Facilitators to oversee events in the Barbro Osher Theater, ensuring high-quality visitor experiences during film screenings and public lectures while managing technical and logistical aspects of the events.

Responsibilities

Responsible for furniture setups on stage such as the piano, podium, or table and chairs for a panel discussion
Present for the pre-screening setup and post-screening breakdown of the theater
Ensures that sound volume, image sharpness, and masking are of the highest quality and informs projectionist of any adjustments needed
Present for the entirety of guest introductions and guest presentations and/or until the film is onscreen for at least 25 minutes
Present until end of a screening to manage all post-screening discussions
Sends emails to film curators and Education Department staff sharing any relevant information related to audience input or requests
Responsible for communicating technical specs and requirements related to Powerpoint presentations to guest speakers and ensuring that guests arrive sufficiently early to test their presentations before the theater is open to the public
Acts as host and greeter with the general public, and responds to all visitors and staff in a courteous and helpful manner
Answers visitor questions and helps resolve problems and complaints
Maintains an up-to-the-minute knowledge of current and upcoming film programs, gallery exhibitions, lectures, meetings, facilities rentals, special events, services, personnel, staff activities, and relevant operational procedures
Oversees two-to-three student theater ushers during each shift
Responsible for various administrative duties that support the Film Exhibition Department, as assigned
Duties may expand to encompass more responsibility in the area of technical coordination for the institution
Handles Speaker Release Forms
Assists with scheduling duties, such as usher scheduling, schedule planning, and may assist with subtitle proofing, and proofreading of technical specifications

Required

Ability to work Weekends and Evenings as part of regular shift
Working knowledge of concepts, principles and practices of event planning and production and public relations
Knowledge of film exhibition formats
An understanding of the technical presentation standards of cinema
Demonstrated accuracy and attention to detail
Effective writing skills needed to prepare a variety of correspondence, reporting, and other documents
Ability to deal with multiple demands in high pressure, public presentation situations, thinking quickly and effectively to problem solve and create and implement solutions
Working knowledge of exhibition practice, customer and client relations, and event coordination
Ability to work on multiple projects with competing deadlines and to establish goals and work load priorities
Demonstrated leadership skills and able to inspire student staff through effective oversight
Proficient computer skills, including facility of using Word, Excel, and Google
Initiative and ability to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication and public speaking skills; able to work effectively with curators, filmmakers, and other guest presenters
Demonstrated ability to establish and achieve goals
Can lift and carry up to 65 lb. as part of regular shift
