Employee Benefits Associate Attorney
Best Best & Krieger LLP is a nationally recognized law firm focused on delivering effective solutions to complex legal issues. They are seeking an attorney with experience in qualified retirement plans and a strong interest in non-ERISA public retirement plans and church plans, responsible for compliance and plan design.
Law Practice
Responsibilities
Experience with qualified retirement plans and a strong interest in working with non-ERISA public retirement plans and church plans
Experience in qualified plan design and compliance, including both tax and fiduciary compliance
Knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related regulatory frameworks
Interested in learning about and working with non-ERISA, governmental and church plan clients, and CalPERS
Experience drafting plan documents and summary plan descriptions
Negotiating service provider contracts
Reviewing investment management agreements
Counseling plan sponsors and fiduciaries on compliance requirements and fiduciary best practices, including plan governance
Experience with the IRS voluntary compliance programs
Design and administration of governmental 457(b) plans
Some knowledge of the Public Employees’ Pension Reform Act of 2013
Strong written and oral communication skills
Desire to work in a collaborative environment with a highly engaged team
Demonstrated ability to manage and maintain significant client relationships
Ability to develop new business and supervise others
Demonstrated ability to manage significant client relationships
Qualification
Required
At least 3-5 years of experience with qualified retirement plans
Strong interest in working with non-ERISA public retirement plans and church plans
Experience in qualified plan design and compliance, including both tax and fiduciary compliance
Knowledge of ERISA, the Internal Revenue Code, and related regulatory frameworks
Interest in learning about and working with non-ERISA, governmental and church plan clients, and CalPERS
Experience drafting plan documents and summary plan descriptions
