Director, Facilities Projects

Responsibilities
Overseeing the development and prioritization of Deferred Maintenance, Facility Renewal, Tenant Improvement, and Supplemental Environmental Projects (SEP)
Working to continuously improve new construction/renovation design criteria and guidelines
Driving the long term capital asset management strategy by creating alignment and leveraging Facilities Investments Needs, renewal, Integrated Capital Asset Management Program (ICAMP), and other resources across Facilities Services
Managing programs such as Building Renewal Program, ICAMP, Tenant Improvement, SEP projects, and FIN across UCSF, and UCOP initiatives
Qualification
Required
Bachelor's degree in Planning or Facilities or related area and / or equivalent experience / training in architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning or landscape architecture
Minimum three-five years of supervisory experience in a complex organization
Excellent skills to lead, direct and manage personnel including selection, training, evaluating and, as required, taking corrective action
Experience developing campus or similar renewal programs, advocating for funding, and allocating scarce resources; experience with renewal models, and national and University best practices; experience with APPA standards, or similar
Solid experience working on construction contracts, Facilities equipment procurement, and vendor/contractor negotiations
Thorough knowledge of and experience in planning, design, construction, environmental issues, legal issues, federal, state and local laws, regulations and practices governing planning, building design and construction, state and federal legislative processes
Thorough financial, budgeting and cost management skills, including interacting with and synthesizing widely divergent viewpoints and interests
Leadership skills to mentor and develop professional staff
Thorough knowledge of industry best practices
Advanced knowledge of organization-specific computer applications
Thorough knowledge associated with overseeing the full range of facilities renovation work
Sound judgement and problem resolution ability as demonstrated by a past record of solving facilities related challenges
Thorough knowledge of the organization, including its vision, mission, goals, achievements, infrastructure and short and long range strategic capital projects plans
Excellent organizational skills including skill in consistently and effectively meeting budget and time deadlines
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, including skill to work effectively with multiple constituencies to advance organizational objectives
Ability to facilitate and collaborate with various internal and external constituencies on strategic short- and long -term facilities planning, management and building construction
Preferred
Master's degree preferred
License to practice in at least one of the following professions: architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning or landscape architecture
California Valid Driver License
Certificate to practice in at least one of the following professions: architecture, engineering, urban design, city planning or landscape architecture
Certifications APPA CEFP, IFMA CFM/FMP, BOMI RPA/FMA
Advanced knowledge of engineering and / or architectural design and concepts
