Responsibilities

Lead, maintain, and improve the plant Quality Management System (QMS), including procedures, work instructions, and records to ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements
Develop and implement inspection, testing, and audit plans for incoming materials, in‑process production, and finished goods; ensure appropriate use of gauges, measurement systems, and statistical techniques
Monitor product and process performance using KPIs (scrap, rework, customer complaints, warranty returns, on‑time corrective actions) and lead cross‑functional problem solving using structured root‑cause and corrective action methods
Serve as the primary quality contact for customers: manage complaints, coordinate investigations, communicate findings, and ensure timely, effective corrective and preventive actions
Partner with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to qualify new products, processes, and suppliers; participate in APQP, PPAP, control plans, and change management activities as appropriate for lighting manufacturing
Lead internal audit programs, layered process audits, and supplier quality evaluations; track nonconformances and drive closure of actions
Champion continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., Lean/Six Sigma projects) focused on defect reduction, process capability, and cost of poor quality reduction
Manage and develop the quality team (technicians, inspectors, auditors): staffing, training, performance management, and daily direction
Ensure compliance with relevant industry and regulatory standards applicable to lighting products and the Plympton facility (e.g., UL, ISO‑based QMS, customer‑specific requirements)
Prepare and present regular quality performance reports and risk assessments to the Plant Manager and plant leadership team

Required

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality, or a related technical field; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered
Minimum of 8 years of progressive quality experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role
Demonstrated experience managing plant‑level quality systems, audits, and customer issue resolution in an industrial or electronics/lighting manufacturing setting
Strong knowledge of core quality tools and methods: root cause analysis, 8D, FMEA, control plans, SPC, MSA, capability studies, and corrective/preventive action
Proven ability to work cross‑functionally with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and Commercial teams to solve complex quality issues
Excellent communication, presentation, and report‑writing skills, with the ability to interface directly with customers and senior leadership

Preferred

Experience in lighting, electronics, or closely related discrete manufacturing industries
Professional certifications such as ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), Certified Quality Manager/Organizational Excellence (CMQ/OE), or Six Sigma Green/Black Belt
Experience with ISO‑based quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001) and customer audits
Hands‑on experience with ERP/MES and quality modules (nonconformance, CAPA, inspection plans, supplier quality)
