R&D Systems Engineering Intern

Responsibilities

Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams (hardware, software, mechanical, clinical) to develop and integrate system-level solutions for medical device capital equipment
Support system architecture design, requirements definition, and interface specification for new and existing products
Assist in system integration, verification, and validation activities, ensuring seamless operation of hardware and software components
Participate in risk analysis, design reviews, and troubleshooting of system-level issues
Ensure engineering solutions align with clinical needs, regulatory standards, and patient safety requirements
Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives
Participate in Agile development processes

Required

Must graduate between December 2026 – May 2028
Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future, for employment-based work authorization
Must be able to commit to one of the following full-time internship periods (12 weeks, 40 hours per week): May 18 – August 7 or May 26 – August 14
Must have reliable transportation to/from the Arden Hills, MN Boston Scientific corporate work location. Boston Scientific is not responsible for employees' transportation to/from work

Preferred

Medical industry experience and familiarity
Ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams
Passion to learn new technologies and find innovative solutions
Experience with designing, integrating, and testing systems involving electro-mechanical components, user interface software, and embedded systems
Experience with programming languages such as Python, C++, and C#
Familiarity with engineering principles, requirements management, and integration testing
Familiarity with hardware/software integration and Agile methodologies
